That said, being an empath in today’s overstimulating, often emotionally chaotic world can leave you feeling drained, confused, or even emotionally hijacked by other people’s moods and projections. You might even start to question: Is this mine? Why do I feel so heavy today?

Why Sensitivity Feels Like a Burden (But Doesn’t Have to Be)
Empaths are sponges, not shields—until we learn to consciously manage our energy. Without boundaries, we become emotional tuning forks for everyone around us, which can lead to:

Here are a few essential practices I recommend to my clients and Reiki students:
Energetic Grounding: Visualize your feet rooting into the Earth like an old tree. Let anything that’s not yours drain down. Auric Clearing: Use Reiki, sage, sound bowls, or a salt bath to cleanse your field. Shielding with Light: Imagine a sphere of golden or violet light around your body. Only love and truth may enter. Name the Energy: When a strong emotion hits, ask, “Is this mine?” If not, send it back with love.

Use these affirmations daily to affirm your sovereignty and protect your sensitivity like the sacred gift it is:
